Retailer ownership structures

The Australian retail energy market includes both regulated and deregulated jurisdictions. In the regulated areas, there is generally only a single regulated retailer with pricing set by the relevant state government. If you're in WA, NT, or north or central QLD, you're in a regulated area, and there is only a single choice of provider.

In other parts of Australia, there is retail competition among many retailers.

Many Bill Hero subscribers are interested to understand the ownership structures f the retailers they purchase their energy from. At Bill Hero we have plans to introduce ownership structure as a 'non-price' decision criteria in our recommendations and rankings.

This functionality is not yet ready to deploy, so we have assembled this summary of the ownership structures for these retailers so our subscribers can manually review and choose their preferred supplier accordingly.
